All campers have access to the bathhouse, hiking trails, trash dumpsters, and the on-site septic dump station. Each campsite includes a modern picnic table, a fire ring, and the RV and dome sites have one designated parking space, either directly on the site or just across the camp drive. Enjoy Our Modern Bathhouse
Built in 2025, our cozy bathhouse has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Inside, you'll find spacious ADA-accessible showers, multiple sinks with convenient outlets, super-flush toilets, and benches for your belongings. To top it off, the space is decorated with beautiful, locally inspired wildlife photography, curated to give you a true sense of place.
Explore Our Hiking Trails
Campfire Shores features four interconnected trails that allow you to mix and match your routes for a variety of scenic loops and distances. All of the trails wind through wooded areas and showcase unique habitats— including emergent wetlands, cedar swamps, successional sand dunes, and fens. Expect moderate elevation changes with some gentle ups and downs, but nothing too strenuous. Our trails are currently under development, but we welcome your help breaking them in! Please note that some sections of the trails are seasonally wet, so sturdy, waterproof footwear is highly recommended. We'll be adding boardwalks across low-lying areas and more permanent trail markers soon, but in the meantime, be ready for a little mud—or choose to stick to the drier stretches. Our trails offer a truly special experience, with thick mossy forest floors, spring wildflowers, vibrant mushrooms, and the occasional dune climb for those who want a bit more elevation.

Gather in Fun Common Spaces
Whether you're visiting with a group or just enjoy meeting fellow campers, Campfire Shores offers a few relaxed gathering areas—with more on the way. You'll find outdoor seating and yard games set near the west end of the campground, just a short walk from the bathhouse. There's a basketball hoop and picnic area near the east end with yard games, as well. We're excited to unveil a large event pavilion near the center of the campground in the summer of 2026. This space will host both public and private events and feature amenities like a bar, live music, organized games, and guided hikes.
Ride or Watch the ATV Trail
While not within the campground itself, Campfire Shores has direct access to a county-maintained trail that forms the northern boundary of the property. This trail connects to hundreds of miles of ATV and snowmobile trails throughout Michigan's Upper Peninsula. We offer a designated ATV parking area at the east end of the campground and there are areas to sit and observe trail activity… the riders or the wildlife. Please note that for everyone's safety, ATVs are not permitted on the campground drive or within the campsites.
